And the drum roll please . . .

In a couple of posts I mentioned that something was going on that I had not previously wanted to mention. I'm ready to mention it now. The news is that I am leaving Nerds To Go (and, indeed, technology support) for a sales job at Cabelas. Actually, today was my first day at Cabelas. It was the first of four days of training. I took the decals off my car yesterday. It feels good to drive around in a normal car.

Nothing happened today that is cause for mention. Anyone who has been to an employee orientation can attest to that. The real excitement is in coming home. It is soooo nice to come home and not have "off-the-clock" work to do. To come home and have the opportunity to relax and decompress knowing you have no further work responsibility is a feeling beyond description. To go along with that is the ability to get up in the morning and not have "off-the-clock" work to do before I walk out the door.

Today marks a day of transition for me as I move from being a nerd to just being a common Joe trying to make a living. September is often a time of transition for me. September 1989 I left home for Air Force Basic Training. September 1997 a friend died and I started thinking about Christ. September 1999 my father was killed by a drunk driver. September 2003 I gave my life over to Christ. September 2007 I start a new career at Cabelas.

Now, to be sure, living will be a struggle for a while as I try to make the outcome equal the income. That's ok. Paul teaches us in Romans chapter 5 that we "glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope." This period of struggle, then, also will be a period of growth. Pray for me friends.

May God bless you with tribulations of your own.
