Response to: The End of the American Experiment It’s Over

The End of the American Experiment
It’s Over. So What Can the World Learn?

Good story, but I don’t think I share your view. Many people thought America was over when Obama was elected and throughout his presidency. Remember all the conservative militia groups that appeared almost overnight? Now it is the opposite, liberal militancy groups popping up here and there decrying, “The sky is falling, the sky is falling”. This is what modern extremism does, creates this yo-yo effect that, over time, desensitized people and weakens the cohesive bond that keeps society together.
For a long time, the majority population allowed the minority population to dictate life for all. But history teaches us that can last only a short while. The majority rebel against the minority. It happens over and over again. Historically, however, it has been the people against the kings. In America it is different.
We have no kings, but we have allowed the ruling class to trick us into segregating ourselves. We segregate ourselves by race, by age, by sex, by gender, by morality, and by the stinking coffee we drink. Yes, the government did this. Governments never create anything. It does not create liberty or equality, it creates laws that reduce liberty. It does not create wealth, it takes wealth and redistributes it. It does not create educated people, it dictates the kind of education received. It does not create health care, it sells healthcare to the highest bidder. All this it does to its own benefit rather than the benefit of the people.
Real change lies with us, the people, independent of the government. We, as a united people, need to tear down the walls that segregate us from each other. We have to end this crazy cycle of liberal did this → so conservative does that → so liberal responds thus. A black person did this → so a white person does that → so black people responds thus. Over and over and over. The division benefits only the government, not the people.
We the people, all people, of the United States of America, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and ensure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our descendants, [must establish ourselves under a single banner with equal rights and liberty for all people; Christian and Muslims and atheists, Europeans and Africans and Asians, the tired and the poor and the huddled masses yearning to breath.]
That is the real American dream, not expensive trash. That is an American worth fighting for, not red ideals or blue ideals or white ideals or black ideals. That is the America that makes America great again.

Post 17320: Protest

I respect a persons right to peacefully protest in any way they see fit. However, it should be understood that one must also peacefully accept the consequences of that protest.  If a peoples protest includes disrespect for a flag under which an for which others willing die, or the monuments that commemorate that death, then it should also be understood that the consequences of that protest will be dire.  The majority of the United States of America will not hear your grievance when you disrespect the flag or monuments that commemorate those who sacrificed all they had under it.

A more effective protest, for a group of wealthy and influential people, would take place in Washington D.C on the steps of the Capitol or around the Washington Monument.  Take the protest to the politicians that enable the poor behavior that is being protested. That is something the American people will hear and support.

Ritch's DIY Cornbread Flour

I’ve been playing with various ways to make gluten-free cornbread from scratch.  Not necessarily to save money, but for a special recipe in the works.  So, while researching gluten-free flours an article popped up that explained that flour could be made by grinding up things like old fashioned oats, rice, and other such grains.  This gave me an idea because I have things like that on-hand.
Out of the cupboard came the old fashioned oats, the buckwheat groats, and some brown rice.  Flour was about to be made.  From scratch.  This was going to be fun.
The blender was fed with 3 cups of old fashioned oats, 1 cup of buckwheat groats, and 1 cup of brown rice.  The standard blender did a good job of an initial coarse grind, but could not grind it to the fineness that was desired.  If you want a more coarse flour you may be able to stop here.  On a whim I transferred the grains to the Bullet Blender.  The Bullet did a great job of getting the grains where they needed to be.  This resulted in approximately 4 1/2 cups of flour.  Remember that you need to add baking powder and xanthan gum to the mix.  A couple tablespoons each.  I generally make cornbread with a 50/50 mix of flour and cornmeal.  Others use a different mixture.
I may play with this a bit.  It is very likely I will use only 2 cups of oats next time.  Also, rather than xanthan gum, I might grind up some chia seeds instead.  That should provide the necessary effect.
Another thing on the radar is making cornmeal.  A blog post explained that cornmeal can be made by grinding up popcorn.  This is certainly something I’m going to try.
May the Lord God Almighty bless you with abundant love and may He bless this Republic in which we live.

AW Tozer

"A real Christian is an odd number anyway. He feels supreme love for one whom he has never seen; talks familiarly every day to someone he cannot see; expects to go to heven on the virtue of another; empties himself in order to be full; admits he is wrong so he can be declared right; goes down in order to get up; is strongest when he is weakest; richest when he is poorest; and happiest when he feels the worst. He dies so he can live; forsakes in order to have; gives away so he can keep; sees the invisible, hears the inaudible, and knows that which passes knowledge. The man who has met God is not looking for anything; he has found it. He is not searching for light, for upon him the light has already shined. His certainty may seem bigoted, but his assurance is that of one who knows by experience his religion is not hearsay. He is not a copy, not a facsimile. He is an original from the hand of the Holy Spirit." - AW Tozer

First Intermediate Swim Lesson

Last night I had my first intermediate swim class at the YMCA.  It was the most intense workout I've had in years.  My arms and legs were rubbery and felt nauseous for about thirty to forty-five minutes.  The intensity is only partly to blame, however.  Most of the blame is mine.  I ate two few calories for lunch, tried to make up for it with junk calories at 430pm, and drank far too little water during the day.  The result, too little food to nourish my muscles and too little liquid to keep my hydrated.  That is the lesson I will take with me next week.

Some things are too wrong to tolerate, and too right to delay

I found a note on my desk, hidden under a pile of long ignored paperwork, that needs to be shared.  I have no idea where the quote comes from as I didn't document the source.

"Some things are too wrong to tolerate, and too right to delay."

I think there is only truth in that statement.

Another day comes to a close

The day has ended for me far later than planned or needed and I feel compelled to make that rare personal appearance at the blog.

I realize with a little bit of mourning that this whole "blog" thing seems like an idea that, while I still remember a time before the internet, has come and gone.  This old fashioned smithing of words one after another in a coherent manner is being replaced with "vlogs" instead.  That's video log for those even older than I.

While on the one hand I think delving into that area of social networking an exciting new realm to conquer, on the other hand I'm not convinced I want to invest the time necessary to do it.  And who would want to look at me anyway?

So maybe this is my line in the sand where I let technology pass me by and set my sails toward the west.  Second star to the right, and straight on til morning.

Good night friends.  May God bless you richly.
