Day Thirty-Eight

It's my thirty-eighth day in my deployment to Orlando for Operation Jump Start assisting U.S. Customs and Border Patrol process electronic equipment for their people in the field watching our borders.

All is going well. I'm running a mile in 11:30-11:40. Thats much better than I could have done two months ago, but not good enough. I need to run a mile and a half in 15 minutes or less.

Depending how my taxes turn out I'm considering purchasing a Bushmaster 9mm AR-15.

One of the primary reasons is that the Air Force does not provide adequate weapons training and I want to be more familiar and capable with the weapon should I be deployed to Afghanastan or Iraq. Though I've no desire to shoot anyone (its the worst thing I can imagine doing), I want to be more confident and capable in my ability to defend myself and my comrades. Plus, shooting is so darn much fun!

Work is going well. We are processing a lot of radios. But I'm excercising daily, eating healthy, and feel really good.

Take care friends.
